Located in the heart of Riksgränsen, Sweden’s legendary alpine destination, Meteorologen Ski Lodge was created through the careful restoration of the area’s historic customs house. The ambition was to transform the building into Sweden’s first ski lodge—a premium destination where guests could experience world-class skiing, mountain adventures, exceptional cuisine, and the unique atmosphere of the Arctic wilderness.
Working closely with the lodge’s management team and architects, I was responsible for developing the visual identity and a range of branded applications, including signage, stationery, room numbering systems, and environmental graphics. The objective was to create an identity that felt both authentic to the building’s history and aligned with the exclusive guest experience the lodge offered.
The design concept drew inspiration from the property’s unique heritage. The name Meteorologen originates from the meteorological station that once operated within the building, and this historical connection became a central source of inspiration. Typography, symbols, and graphic details were influenced by vintage scientific instruments and meteorological measuring equipment, creating a visual language that felt both timeless and distinctive.

The color palette was derived from the building itself, with the deep red tones of traditional Swedish Falun red paint contrasted against the expansive whites of the surrounding snow-covered landscape. Together, these elements created a brand identity that felt rooted in both place and history.
From enamel room plaques installed according to detailed specifications to carefully crafted wayfinding and printed materials, every touchpoint was designed to contribute to a cohesive guest experience. The result was a visual identity that enhanced the character of the lodge and helped establish Meteorologen as one of Sweden’s most distinctive mountain destinations.
Today, the legacy of the project continues through the ongoing development of Riksgränsen as a premium destination for skiing, hiking, and outdoor experiences—an area that remains one of Scandinavia’s most remarkable alpine environments.
